Who we are
Great Yarmouth Borough Council ("the Council", "we", "our" or "us") and East Suffolk Council are the data controllers for the purposes of Data Protection legislation, which consists of:

How we use your information
We will use your information in order to deliver the Cultural Connections project. We will share your information with organisations that have volunteering opportunities along with providing you with the organisations' contact details. The project also provides a gateway for you to enrol on training courses.
- the lawful ground for processing this information is defined under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR, where processing is necessary for us to perform a task and you have given your clear consent for us to process your information for this task
- where you have identified specific medical or health needs, this data is processed with your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) of the UK GDPR
- ethnicity data is collected purely for the purposes of equalities monitoring, this data will be collated to provide an overview of the project - the processing of this data is with your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) of the UK GDPR
Data Sharing
Your information will be kept strictly confidential. It will be stored in a secure, password-protected database or spreadsheet on our computer system. Your data will be used for this specific purpose and will not be onwardly shared apart from where you have requested to undertake a training course in which case it will be shared, depending on where you live, with either Norfolk County Council Adult Learning Services or Suffolk County Council Adult Learning Services.
Depersonalised and aggregated data will be shared with the funders, Spirit of 2012 and our evaluation partner for this project, the Institute for Volunteering Research at University of East Anglia.
Retention
Your personal information will be stored securely and retained for 6 years from the conclusion of the project, after which time it will be securely destroyed.
Your rights
You have a number or rights available to you, including:
- the potential right to see copies of all the data held about you
- to ask for data to be corrected or deleted
- to request the Council to restrict what it does with your data in certain circumstances
- to object to what the Council may do with your data and to data portability
Please note that these rights are not absolute and there are circumstances where they do not apply or the Council may override these rights, however, you will be informed if this is the case.
